【摘要】:Hollow-stemaugersarefrequentlyusedforgeotechnicalexploration.Often,hollow-stemaugersareusedwithothersamplingsystems,suchassplitbarrelpenetrationresistancetesting,TestMethodD1586,orthin-walltubesampling,PracticeD1587(see2.5).Hollow-stemaugersmaybeusedtoadvanceadrillholewithoutsamplingusingapilotbitassembly,ortheymaybeequippedwithasamplingsystemforobtainingsoilcores.Insomesubsurfaceconditionsthatcontaincohesivesoils,thedrillholecanbesuccessfullyadvancedwithouttheuseofapilotbitassembly.Intermittentdrilling(advancingoftheHSAcolumnwithorwithoutapilotbit)andsamplingcanbeperformeddependingontheintervalstobesampled,orcontinuoussamplingcanbeperformed.Duringpausesinthedrillingandsamplingprocess,insitutestingorothersoilsamplingmethodscanbeperformedthroughthehollowaugercolumnbelowtheleadaugerassembly.Atcompletionoftheboringtothedepthofinterest,theholemaybeabandonedortestingormonitoringdevicescanbeinstalled.Hollow-stemaugerdrillingallowsfordrillingandcasingtheholesimultaneously,therebyeliminatingholecavingproblemsandcontaminationofsoilsamples(2).Thehollow-stemaugerdrillingandsamplingmethodcanbeasatisfactorymeansforcollectingsamplesofshallowunconsolidatedsubsurfacematerials(2).AdditionalguidanceonusecanbefoundinRefs.2,3,4,5,6.Soilsamplingwithadouble-tubehollow-stemsamplingsystemprovidesamethodforobtainingcontinuousorintermittentsamplesofsoilsforaccurateloggingofsubsurfacematerialstosupportgeotechnicaltestingandexploration.Awidevarietyofsoilsfromclaystosandscanbesampled.Thesamplingsystemscanbeparticularlyeffectiveindrysofttostiffclayeyorsiltydepositsbutalsocanworkwellundersaturatedconditions.Saturatedcohesionlesssoilssuchascleansandsmayflowandcaveduringdrilling(seeNote1).Inmanycases,theHSAsoilcoresamplingsystemcanproduceverylittledisturbancetothesampleandcanprovidesamplesforlaboratorytestsformeasurementofselectedengineeringproperties.Large-diametersoilcores,iftakencarefully,canprovideClassCandDsamplesasdescribedinPracticeD4220.TheHSAsystemscanalsoprovidedisturbedsamplesofunsaturatedsandsandgravelswithsomestructurepreserved.Full5-ft(1.5-m)longcoresusuallycannotbeobtainedinunsaturatedsandsduetoincreasingsidewallfrictionbetweenthedrysandsandinsidesurfaceofthesamplecorebarrel.Samplelengthof2to2.5ft.(0.60to0.75m)isgenerallythelimitofamountofsamplethatcanberecoveredinunsaturatedsandsbeforethefrictionbetweenthesamplerandthesandbecomestoohighandcausesblockingorpluggingofthesampler.Shorterlargediametercorerunsof2.5ftwiththe5-ftsamplebarrelsystem,orwitha2.5-ftsamplebarrelsystem,havegenerallyproventoresultinthebestsamples.Note18212;Researchonthin-wallpistonsamplingincleansandsindicatesthatingeneralitisimpossibletoobtaintrulyundisturbedsamplesofsaturatedcleansands.Thesesoilscandilateorcollapseuponinsertionofasamplingtube.Thehollow-stemaugerdouble-tubesystemcanonlyobtainpartitiallydisturbedsamplesofsandsbelowthewatertable.Hollow-stemaugerdrillingisconsideredashallowdrillingmethodwithmaximumdepthofdrillingof200to300ft(60to90m)dependingontorqueandpulldown/retractcapacityofthedrillingequipmentandsubsurfaceconditionsoftheformation(s)encountered.Saturatedlooseunconsolidateddepositsfurtherlimitmaximumdepththatcanbeattained.Hollow-stemaugerscanactascasings.......
